Introduction
Phase Noise Measurements using an FM Discriminator require the calibra-
tion of the Discriminator Constant in V/Hz. The Discriminator Constant
is the sensitivity of the discriminator to frequency fluctuations.
The HP 3048A Phase Noise Measurement System offers three methods for
determining the Discriminator Constant. The primary considerations for
selecting a calibration method are measurement accuracy and equipment
availability.
